Photograph Courtesy of Jim Hillestad
The 4th Light Infantry fought at Monterrey, holding the forts above the Bishop's Palace. They fought at Cerro Gordo and Churubusko where they were decimated. Survivors of the unit were reorganized as the 4th Line Infantry Regiment and fought in the battle for Mexico City.
The uniform of the 4th Light Infantry consisted of indigo blue coat and trousers with green facings, red turnbacks and plasteron. They wore a very characteristic tall, stovepipe shako with a green ball plume.
